Prism is a Plug-in for Rhino that sorts geometric objects into layers based on their properties and attributes (names, colors, user-texts etc.) Prism is particularly useful when importing data from „attribute-based“ CAD applications (e.g. Cadwork) to the „layer-based“ Rhino. Typically, the imported geometry keeps their attributes as user-texts, but ends up on just one layer.

How to install prism

  1. Click Install in Rhino to open Rhino's Package Manager with prism selected, or run _PackageManager inside Rhino and search for prism.
  2. Or install it from a terminal (assumes a default Rhino 8 installation):
    Windows (PowerShell)
    & "C:\Program Files\Rhino 8\System\Yak.exe" install prism
    macOS (Terminal)
    "/Applications/Rhino 8.app/Contents/Resources/bin/yak" install prism
  3. Or download the .yak file above and drag it onto an open Rhino window.

Restart Rhino once the install finishes.
