Heron is an add-on which enables the import of GIS data from various sources into the Rhino/Grasshopper environment, located, scaled and cropped based on an Earth Anchor Point and a clipping polygon. It is an open source project at https://github.com/blueherongis/Heron Heron v0.5.1 Release Notes Heron is now compiled with RhinoCommon v8+ and .NET8 and will only work with Rhino 8+. The last release to work with Rhino 6 or 7 was Heron v0.4.5. Added components -None Updated components -Upgraded to GDAL 3.12.1 from 3.7.3 Fixed bugs -Allow spaces in the file path for egm08_25.gtx used in the custom vertical datum with Google 3D Tile components. -Update RESTTopo to use HeronLocation method instead of AssemblyLocation to avoid issues finding HeronAppSetting.json.

How to install heron

  1. Click Install in Rhino to open Rhino's Package Manager with heron selected, or run _PackageManager inside Rhino and search for heron.
  2. Or install it from a terminal (assumes a default Rhino 8 installation):
    Windows (PowerShell)
    & "C:\Program Files\Rhino 8\System\Yak.exe" install heron
  3. Or download the .yak file above and drag it onto an open Rhino window.

Restart Rhino once the install finishes.
