The Substance for Rhino plug-in enables full support for the Substance SBSAR file format in Rhino, including parametric control inside the Rhino material editor. SBSAR files can be dragged into Rhino directly, or imported using "Import from Material Library..." In addition, you can create a Substance material directly from the "+" button and choose the SBSAR file from there.

How to install SubstanceImporter

Click Install in Rhino to open Rhino's Package Manager with SubstanceImporter selected, or run _PackageManager inside Rhino and search for SubstanceImporter.

Or install it from a terminal (assumes a default Rhino 8 installation):

Windows (PowerShell)

& "C:\Program Files\Rhino 8\System\Yak.exe" install SubstanceImporter

macOS (Terminal)

"/Applications/Rhino 8.app/Contents/Resources/bin/yak" install SubstanceImporter

Or download the .yak file above and drag it onto an open Rhino window.

Restart Rhino once the install finishes.
